Black Student Alliance at Yale Presents Gift to BCA

On October 3, the Black Student Alliance at Yale (BSAY) presented the second annual Charity Date Auction to raise funds to support breast cancer awareness. The Breast Cancer Alliance was chosen as the lucky recipient of the group’s donation. BSAY auctioned off “dates” with volunteers from several groups and organizations including Yale sports teams, fraternities, sororities, cultural groups, and performance groups.  The event was a tremendous success with great turnout and BSAY donated $700 to the Breast Cancer Alliance.  “We knew that October was breast cancer awareness month and after some of our members, who had family members suffering from this disease, approached the executive board and asked whether we had plans to hold an event promoting breast cancer awareness, we felt that we had found the perfect cause to connect our Date Auction with,” said Justin Chukumba, BSAY Treasurer.

The Black Student Alliance at Yale (BSAY) is a multi-cultural organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of Black students at Yale through political action, community action, and social events.  We thank BSAY, and applaud them for recognizing the importance of working to battle this disease, which strikes women in all communities.
