Alexandra S. Heerdt, MD, MPH, FACS
Dr. Heerdt is a board-certified surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, with an expertise in breast surgery and breast disease. For eight years, from 1994 to 2002, she ran the Special Surveillance Breast Program at Sloan-Kettering. Her name regularly appears in the "Best Doctors in New York" issue of New York magazine; she has been named one of the best doctors in the country, and is regularly quoted in national publications, cited in medical journals, and interviewed online. Currently, she is involved in several projects attempting to define the appropriate screening and treatment options for women with family histories of breast cancer. She received her MD degree from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and her MPH from Columbia University School of Public Health. She completed her residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and did a fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering.
