Breast Cancer Alliance Pink Party
The Breast Cancer Alliance held its first annual Pink Party at The Loading Dock in Stamford on June 16. It was a festive evening of drinks, dinner, and dancing to help raise awareness of and funding for the Breast Cancer Alliance (BCA) in their mission to find a cure. Kicking off the evening was a proclamation from Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei declaring June 16th Men in Pink Day. More than 250 people, all in pink attire, danced to the Motown sounds of the renowned “Liquid Pleasure” and supported the BCA with their attendance. Funds raised at this event will augment the support the BCA provides to institutions within a 200 miles radius of Greenwich. The “Men in Pink" committee is comprised of over 125 men in the greater Greenwich community who are committed to taking an active role in advancing breast cancer prevention and treatment. The committee, chaired by Campbell Gerrish, Andrew Mitchell-Namdar and William Sinclair, created and planned the entire event. Mr. Gerrish commented, “Andrew, William and I feel honored to be associated with the Breast Cancer Alliance and we believe it is vital to have men involved in the breast cancer cause....because breast cancer affects more than just women. The Men in Pink committee hopes to raise year-round awareness about the need for the women in our lives to stay healthy.”
